Interventionists
We are glad you have contacted the Alabama Tobacco Quitline staff for help. Our interventionists are trained to help you take an initial step in making a decision about quitting tobacco. They will ask you questions including how you heard about the Quitline, if you are ready to quit now or later, demographic information, and your address, phone numbers and e-mail address. They can provide referral information if you are looking for other services in your area. They may also check back with you if you are not ready to make a decision but want to think about it. These same questions will be asked of online users as well.
Counselors
The Tobacco Quitline's counselors are all master's level, mental/behavioral health professionals with special training in tobacco cessation counseling. They have completed the Tobacco Specialists' Training and most are Certified Tobacco Treatment Specialists. They have had experience in helping people make decisions to change behavior in order to be healthier. They can help you develop a quit plan, learn your triggers and how to face difficult challenges, and make lifestyle changes that will help you achieve the success you want.
The Tobacco Quitline management staff has a combined 26 years working in tobacco cessation. Many of the counselors have been employed with the Quitline for more than three years.
Remember, any Alabamian can use the FREE phone or online counseling services and receive 4 weeks of FREE Nicotine Replacement Therapy patches (if medically eligible and enrolled in counseling) provided by Alabama QUITNOW. Call 1-800-QUITNOW or 1-800-784-8669 or for online counseling click here
