Possible NRT Assistance
Under the Alabama Tobacco Quitline grant, qualified callers may receive up to four weeks of the NRT patch. Users must be at least 18 years of age, be medically stable (not have any of the contraindications provided by the NRT manufacturer) and be enrolled and participating in the cessation counseling on a regularly scheduled basis.

Can I just call and get NRT?
No. Since the greatest success is from a commitment to the program and to your quit plan, the regular counseling sessions are important for success. Users must agree to participate in the full counseling program in order to receive the full four weeks of the NRT products.

Will I have to talk to someone different every time?
After the initial intake, users who want to enroll and talk with a counselor will be assigned to a counselor for the continued assessment and counseling. We make every effort to make sure that you work with the same counselor and that your schedule of counseling contacts are during a time that is convenient for you. We will make changes if the caller requests or if the quitline staff changes and the assigned counselor is no longer available at the most convenient time for the caller.

Your cessation counselor is there to help you set up your quit date, quit plan and learn how to cope with the challenges of quitting. They are also there to help you develop skills to use your own resources to tackle difficult situations and trigger times so you can be successful.

Remember, any Alabamian can use the FREE phone or online counseling services and receive 4 weeks of FREE Nicotine Replacement Therapy patches (if medically eligible and enrolled in counseling) provided by Alabama QUITNOW. Call 1-800-QUITNOW or 1-800-784-8669 or for online counseling click here
